Here is a cool article I found. It talks about Yeah Right changing their name to Alone, signing with a management company and moving to Chicago. They mention that " Due to legal reasons they prefer not to go into, they decided to change their name." I am sure I still have the e-mail Rinat sent me and she said they changed the name because there was already a band named Yeah Right and they needed to change it if they wanted to grow. Under the link to the article, I have pasted the text from the write up just in case the page goes buh bye we will always have it available here.

Now Alone
Local rockers Alone, formerly known as Yeah Right until last month, are leaving the Quad-Cities and heading off to the ``Windy City'' of Chicago.
On a recent Sunday evening, I caught up with the band, fresh from an apartment-hunting excursion in Chi-town. With lead singer/bass player Rinat looking her usual glamorous self, and guitarist Steve Ripley and drummer Bryan West looking casual in street clothes without their onstage makeup, we chatted about the new ventures the band is embarking upon.
The big news is that Alone recently signed up with KMA Management in Chicago, home to such acts as Disturbed, Great Apes and BombPop. Considering that most management companies are located in bigger markets such as Chicago, New York or Los Angeles, signing with said companies often necessitates a move to one of those cities. Alone is set to make the move to Chicago the first week in July.
The band garnered a large following in the Quad-Cities over the past few years, selling several thousand copies of their two releases, ``New Era'' and ``Freak,'' but decided it was time to move into a larger market. They've made inroads into Chicago, but are trying to improve upon that.
``Basically we hooked up with a management company and they are going to help us get a bigger following in Chicago and get record company attention on our own terms,'' said Rinat.
When asked how they picked KMA, Rinat explained, ``I knew the singer in a band that had them as a manager. I was shopping for a management company because we were supposed to go with this manager and things didn't work out that great. I had a goal to get a manager who was better and bigger and gave myself a month or two months.''
``I wanted to find out who was the best management in Chicago and everyone kept mentioning KMA,'' she continued. ``We met with them through the other singer, they heard our music, came to see us live, and we hooked up.''
The band is currently on a tight schedule with the move and also other deadlines looming.
``We need a sampler CD for when we get to Chicago so we are recording two songs, ``Chemical Reaction'' and ``I Am,' Rinat said. ``And we have a deadline of two weeks for that. Then we need to record the rest of our stuff and pick two of our top songs for shopping to record labels.''
After the songs are recorded, the band plans to release them in some form or another in the next few months, whether as sampler CDs or an official release in addition to shopping them.
``The main thing is the recording is going to be for shopping,'' Mr. Ripley said. ``But while we're already doing it, we might as well make a CD and get them out.
The band played its last show as Yeah Right at the Geneseo American Legion on May 13. Due to legal reasons they prefer not to go into, they decided to change their name.
A friend in the band Soil helped them by coming up with three different ideas and Alone seemd to be the perfect choice.
``It actually symbolizes a lot that has to do with us,'' Rinat said. ``You know, me being the girl in the band, so I'm alone because it's them and me. And also us being a different style of band in general.''
The look of the band is also undergoing a change. They added a keyboard player in March with the addition of Joe Roman, and the makeup will be changing as well.
Said Mr. Ripley, ``The idea is to kinda back off and have our own little dark world and not visually compete with her. More charcoal eye shadow rather than purple,'' he said with a laugh.
They want to stress that they will be back to play in the Quad-Cities from time to time, even though the area lacks venues for them to play, apart from the Pig Pen in Clinton.
They are on the main stage lineup for the upcoming Pigstock 2000 festival at the Pig Pen opening for national acts Stir and 3 Doors Down on Monday and Sevendust and Coal Chamber on Tuesday.
As for upcoming Chicago dates, fans can check them out at the Metro on Saturday, July 29. Stay tuned to their new Web site in the works at www.alone.com for more info.
On a closing note from Rinat, she says, ``We'd like to thank everybody that supported us. That's the bottom line. That's what it's all about. We love our fans here. Our fans here are the coolest because they definitely supported us from day one. And they got what we are all about and that's really cool.''
